There are two familiar forms, each composed of a single circle encompassing several radiating lines. One is dynamic, utilitarian and focussed squarely on the "now"—a clock face. The other is static, symbolic and seems to suggest an unidentified "then"—the peace symbol.
Combining the forms compromises, slightly, the function of the first and complicates, productively, the meaning of the second. The clock face remains recognizable, if slightly harder to read. The peace symbol, subject to the mechanics of time-keeping, is never quite perfect, always coming or going.
