FakeShamus (Shamus Clisset) is the Manifest Destinaut; a digital golem, Chaos Pilgrim, bringer of Non Future Totems, usurper and Lost Raver in the Meh-taverse. Working with digital media since the mid 90s, Shamus creates 3D renderings, animations, and simulations in a range of styles from hyper-real to hyper-fake. His work is a virtual mash-up of violent imagery, frontier iconography, pop culture and historical references, and his own obscure lusts and obsessions. Themes of apocalypse, misguided bravado, the illusion of control, and tragedies of ambition and (non)progress, are all refracted through the prism of mass media, building an absurdist critique of our contemporary digital wasteland.
